Using Aromatic & Herbal Preparations to Protect the Respiratory System: Part I
Medicinal plants today can offer us a great deal of protection using countless formulas against a wide range of microbial pathogens, respiratory allergens, and environmental toxins. In this class, we’ll discuss the concepts of respiratory immunity according to Chinese/Ayurvedic medicine; learn safety protocols for herbs and essential oils; aromatic hydrotherapy to boost our resistance and vitality; and how to prepare and use aromatic teas and spices for an at-home kitchen apothecary. In addition, we will learn about the most important herbs used to prevent and treat cold and flu, and their preparations, dosages and safety considerations; what formulas to use to protect the lungs; herbs/ essential oils to help stop smoking; and medicinal mushroom preparations to help build our immunity.
Using Aromatic & Herbal Preparations to Protect the Brain: Part II
Scientific research has confirmed that the brain is far more sensitive and vulnerable to environmental toxins than previously thought. The neuro-protective powers of medicinal plants have proven to be a highly effective way to combat these toxins. In this class, we will learn how to protect ourselves against inflammation, environmental toxins, and also look at long-term, easy to use treatments for cognitive decline. We will discuss how Ayurvedic, Chinese and Western herbs can strengthen the brain and nervous system; learn safety considerations for neuro-protective herbs, aromatic plants/ essential oils as a way to enhance memory and concentration; herbal and aromatic head massage oils for alertness/concentration; how to use medicinal mushrooms on the brain; and the neuro-protective herbs that can also support the heart.
